Verified discovery record
Source-of-record linksWhat can be independently verified
Each service below has a different function. The status statements reflect the named provider's record rather than a publisher-supplied badge or promotional claim.
| Service | Role | Verified JVHC record | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| ISSN Portal | Serial identification | A confirmed record identifies the Journal of Veterinary Healthcare as an online serial under ISSN 2575-1212. | Verify ISSN |
| Crossref | DOI and metadata registration | Crossref returns 40 deposited works for ISSN 2575-1212, of which 39 match a published archive record. Checked 7 August 2026. | View record |
| OpenAlex | Scholarly discovery graph | A source record is present, listing 40 works. That is not the complete JVHC archive, which holds 41 published articles. Checked 7 August 2026. | View source |
| NLM Catalog | Bibliographic cataloging | A bibliographic record exists, but NLM marks the journal's current indexing status as “No.” Cataloging does not mean PubMed or MEDLINE indexing. | View catalog |
Provider totals can differ from the journal archive because external services ingest and classify records according to their own data models.
DOI registration
Record-level transparencyRegistered records and unresolved deposits
The JVHC publication archive contains 41 published article records. Crossref returns 40 deposited works for the journal's ISSN, of which 39 match a published archive record. Two articles carry a DOI on the website that has not yet been deposited, so JVHC does not claim that every published article has a registered DOI.
A DOI shown on a website is not sufficient evidence of registration. A registered DOI should resolve and have a corresponding record in the registration agency's metadata.
How the services differ
Plain-language guideIdentification
ISSN assignment
Identifies a continuing serial publication. It does not evaluate editorial quality or confer database indexing.
Registration
Crossref deposits
Register DOI identifiers and article metadata. Registration is not the same as acceptance by a selective index.
Discovery
OpenAlex source record
Supports discovery and linking in an open scholarly graph. Provider counts may differ from the publisher's archive.
Selective coverage
Index inclusion
Depends on each database's selection and review process. A journal should name this status only when it can be verified.
Current status disclosures
No inferred claimsSelective indexes and preservation
JVHC reports only independently supportable status. A catalog record, DOI registration or discovery record is not presented as selective indexing.
PubMed Central deposit clarification
Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS). Deposit of an individual manuscript does not indicate that JVHC is indexed at the journal level in PubMed, MEDLINE, or PubMed Central.
- PubMed and MEDLINENLM Catalog contains a JVHC bibliographic record, but marks current indexing status as “No.” A PubMed search by ISSN returns no article records.
- Directory of Open Access JournalsDOAJ's journal search returns no record for ISSN 2575-1212.
- ScopusJVHC does not appear in Elsevier's June 2026 Scopus Source Title List.
- Web of Science and JCRJVHC does not claim Web of Science coverage or a Journal Impact Factor because current Clarivate coverage has not been independently verified.
- Long-term preservationJVHC is included under Open Access Pub’s Portico digital-preservation program. As articles are deposited, they enter Portico’s permanent archive for long-term preservation.

Digital preservation
This journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish. Read our preservation policy.
